Nile Crocodile

Can live up to 70-100 years, can grow up to 20 ft long, and can weigh up to a ton.

Organism's habitat

  • Nile crocodiles live in all types of environments
  • Swamps, rivers, lakes, mangroves, tropical grassland, and deserts
  • As long as they can control their body temperature and can go in water they can live there

Where are they found

  • They are only found in Africa.
  • They cannot be found in northwest Africa, and South Africa.
  • They can be found pretty much everywhere else.

Population size, and density

  • In the 1940-60s they were hunted almost to extinction.
  • There numbers are very high now.
  • It is impossible to find the exact number of nile crocodiles.
  • They live in the most remote places that they can't be counted.
  • They are also very dangerous so people can't tag them or monitor them.

Biotic and abiotic

  • BIotic:
  • They have to have a large amount of fish and large land animals to eat.
  • Abiotic:
  • They need to have be able to go up onto high ground near the water to lay their eggs.
  • They also need to be able to go out into open area to absorb sunlight to control their body temp.
