NIKA RIOT

Constantinople, 532 AD By: Aidan Bolling

The Nika Revolt of Constantinople in 532 AD, did more damage to the city than any other event in history up to this point. This event was caused by conflicts between Emperor Justinian and two political sporting parties known as the Blues and the Greens. Many members of each party were arrested after several deaths during a separate riot after a chariot race in 531 AD.
