Moishe

The Beadle: Chapter 1 P. 3-22
Quote: "I succeeded on my own in finding a master for myself in the person of Moishe the Beadle." Elie Wiesel, Night, Page 5.

Reasoning quote: Elie wants a master to teach him in Kabbalah and Moishe helps him. Moishe even tells him how the Germans are trying to kill the Jews, but Elie doesn't listen.

Picture: It shows Elie not wanting to give up, and protest against the SS.

Title: The title is based on Moishe the Beadle because he had the greatest impact on Elie in the beginning of the book, and if Elie would of listened to him, he might have been saved from going to the camp.

Moving

Chapter 2 P.23-28
Quote: "They ordered us to run. We began to run. Who would have thought that we were so strong?"
Elie Wiesel, Night, 19

I picked this quote because it shows how much the prisoners wanted to live no matter what.

I picked the picture because the SS moved the people in huge groups.

I picked this title because it shows how little the SS officers cared of the people and made them march for really long periods of time.

Selection

Chapter 3 P.29-46
Quote: " An SS soldier came toward us wielding a club. He commanded: 'Men to the left! Women to the right!'"
Elie Wiesel, Night, 29.

Explanation for quote: I picked this quote because it shows how the officers divided up the people, so men would work and women and children would die.

Explanation for picture: I picked this picture because it is the uniform that the prisoners had to wear if they passes selection.

Explanation of title: The title shows how every prisoner was hand picked to be either fit and work, or not fit, and thrown into the crematoria.

Kommando

Chapter 4 p. 47-65
Quote: " Buna is a very good camp, one can hold one's one here. The most important thing is not to be assigned to the construction kommando..."
Elie Wiesel, Night, 47-48

I picked this quote because it shows how nobody wanted to work in the construction kommando because it would be very tiring and you would die the fastest.

I picked this picture because it resembles how the workers had to work non stop all day long, and sometimes during the night.

I picked this title because it shows how your kommando could predict how long you would live.

Loss in faith

Chapter 5 P. 66-84
Quote: " Blessed be God's name? Why, but why would I bless him? Every fiber in me rebelled."

I picked this quote because it shows how desensitized living in the camp has made him that he lost all faith in GOD.

I picked this title because it shows his lack of faith and how he started off religious, but ended up rebelling against GOD.

I picked this picture because it shows where people go to worship and pray to GOD, and how Elie didn't do that.

Abandoned village

Chapter 6 P. 85-97
Quote: " We came to an abandoned village. Not a living soul."

I picked this quote because it shows how the SS officers ran the prisoners to an adandoned village, where most of the people died.

I picked this picture because it shows how deserted the prisoners felt when they were lead there, and most of them died.

I picked this title because it demonstrated the feelings of the prisoners, and how they are being dehumanized.

Die for food

Chapter 7 P.98-103
Quote: " When they withdrew, there were two dead bodies next to me, the father and the son."

I picked this quote because it demonstrates how desperate people were for food and how they would do anything to have a bite of a crust of bread.

picked this picture because it shows what the prisoners had to travel in tot he next camp when the father and son died.

I picked this title because it demonstrates what the prisoners went through and how they would 'die for food'.

Weak

Chapter 8 P. 104-112
Quote: " Every day my father was getting weaker. His eyes were watery, his face the color of dead leaves."

I picked this picture because it shows how fragile Elie's dad became and how he had almost no life in him left to survive.

I picked this title because this far along in the book everyone just wants to give up and stop trying and die, but they can't.

I picked this quote because it shows Elie's dad fading away and leading to his death, which sets Elie free.

Dead corpse

Chapter 9 P. 113-115
Quote: " From the depths of the mirror, a corpse was contemplating me. "

I picked this picture because it shows how Elie didn't realize he was looking at himself because of all the dehumanization he went through.

I picked this title because it resembles what Elie saw in himself in the mirror.

I picked this quote because it helps the reader understanding how Elie felt after realizing what he had turn into.
