Chapter 1

  • "Transformation Starts"
  • "At dawn, we were in the street, ready to leave." (Wiesel, 22)
"Transformation Starts" is a fitting title because it tells about how the mundane world starts to become transformed. I choose this picture to represent the jews emotions about leaving. They obviously didn''t want to and were stressed and confused about going away. The quote connects to the name because this tells when they were ready to leave to they're anticipated new life.

Chapter 2

  • "The Ride"
  • "We realized then that we were not staying in Hungary." (Wiesel,23)
"The Ride" is a suiting name for the chapter because the whole chapter is the journey in the cattle car from Hungary to Birkenau. I choose this picture because it is a picture of the cattle cars which the Jews ride in to get to the camps. The quote displays how the Jews were exiting Hungary.

Chapter 3

  • "Brink of Insanity."
  • "We were incapable of thinking. Our senses were numbed,"(Wiesel,36)
"Brink of Insanity" was a good title because it tells how the inmates were experiencing breaks of reality throughout the process of the camp. The picture I have is an insane man going through high levels of anxiety. The quote connects to the name because it displays people on the brink of insanity.

Chapter 4

  • "Beat down"
  • "I no longer felt anything except the lashes of the whip" (Wiesel,57)
This name I have chosen to title this section can explain the events that took place because they were harmed consistently. My picture of the blood and the knifes displays exactly what was happening at the time...bloody beat downs. The quote, stating "lashes of the whip", connects because it describes a violent moment.

Chapter 5

  • "Graveyard Boys"
  • "It's over. God is longer with us." (Wiesel,76)
"Graveyard Boys" connects to the section because it tells about all the death experienced at this time. The image is a picture of a graveyard which is related to the title. The quote explains the feelings of the inmates, expressing loneliness and depression.

Chapter 6

  • "Left, Right, Left, Right!"
  • "One more hour of marching and, at last, the order to halt."(Wiesel, 88)
My title describes this passage because it is a period where they march to a different camp. My image shows people marching, such as the inmates did. The quote tells how inured they became to cruelty, marching in freezing weather for hours on end.

Chapter 7

  • "Snow Creatures"
  • "And the spectators observed these emaciated creatures ready to kill for a
  • crust of bread." (Wiesel,101)
"Snow Creatures" tells how the inmates could be described as because they resided in the snow of the cart. My image shows a snowman who is violent. just as the inmates were for crusts of bread. My quote shows the severity of the dehumanization experienced by the inmates at this time.

chapter 8

  • "Finals"
  • "Just like Rabbi Eliahu's son, I had not passed the test."
  • (Wiesel, 107)
My title tells the setting of Buchenwald, it being the last leg of Elie's camp experiences. The quote displays that it really was a test, like trying to make a sports team and going through cuts. The image shows a calender with final exams scheduled on it, like the title.

Chapter 9

  • "Materialized"
  • "That's all that we thought about. No thought of revenge, or of our parent
  • -s. Only of bread." (Wiesel, 115)
I chose this image to explain the hollowness of the inmates as free man, the realization of how obsessed they were with food and nothing else, as animals would act. My title tells how the inmates were as free men. The quote describes being shallow and like an animal.
