In 1522 Spanish explorers arrived at what is today known as Nicaragua.
Archeologists today believe that native tribes that lived there where related to those who lived in Mexico, because they shared so much in culture.
Early Nicaraguans drank hot chocolate, but it was different from modern day hot chocolate it was a mixture of hot water,unsweetened chocolate,and spicy red peppers.
After a long fight in 1938 Nicaragua finally became independent.
