What is Newton's Third Law?

The Law:
For every action, there is an equal or opposite reaction

For example:

This action causes

this reaction.

But this is not the kind of reaction Newton is describing.

Newton uses "reaction" in the scientific way.

So here is a better example.

The bird's wings push air down which causes the bird to rise.

Here is another example.

How this demonstrates the third law

  • Burning fuel creates a push on the front of the rocket pushing it upwards.
  • Since there will be an equal and opposite reaction, the exhaust gas pushes backwards.
  • The rocket goes up.

Any other examples?

Let's See this in action.
