NEWTONS LAWS OF MOTION

TARA ZANDI, MARCH 18, PERIOD 7

LAW ONE!

  • Law one states that an object at rest remains at rest, and an object in motion remains in motio at constant speed and in a straight line unless acted on by an unbalanced force

Objects at rest stay at rest. These dominoes aren't moving because there is not unbalanced force acting on it. It would start to move if an unbalanced force(a finger) pushed the first domino.

The baseball is in motion because of the force of the pitchers throw. It will continue to move forever until and unbalanced force acts on it, such as the bat of the hitter.

LAW TWO!

  • The acceleration of an object depends on the mass of the object and the amount of force applied.

The smaller rock has less mass. The bigger rock has more mass. So the kid that is pulling the larger rock needs to exert more force than the kid pulling the smaller one.

There are two carts the one with more mass needs more force and acceleration. The acceleration of loaded cart will increase when a larger force is exerted on it.

LAW THREE!

  • Whenever one objects exerts a force on a second object exerts an equal and opposite force on the first.

The soccer players foot exerts a force on the soccer ball that sends the soccer ball flying. The ball exerts an equal force on the foot.

The tiger's legs exert a force on the ground. The ground exerts an equal force no the tiger's legs and causes the tiger to accelerate upward.
