NURTURE
People who support nurture believe that your parents and upbringing affect your behavior and personality traits.

ARGUMENT FOR NATURE DEVELOPMENT

  • Weight, Height, and Hair Loss are correlations with genetics.
  • Some mental and physical illnesses can be passed down through heredity such as depression.
  • Even social aspects such as personality type can be passed down through a host of genetics

ARGUMENTS NURTURE DEVELOPMENT

  • While height and weight can be passed down, without the proper nutrition from guardians you are more likely to not reach your potential.
  • Furthermore, neglect and lack of attachment can lead to mental illnesses and social anxiety.

Case Study of Twins
In 2015, Dr Benyamin from Queensland Institute reviewed 2700 publications of 14.5 million pairs of twins. Studying each of the results, Benyamin found that nature vs nurture is almost straight down the middle. With human traits and diseases 49 percent had influence from nature and 51 percent had environmental factors.

However for bipolar disorder, 70 percent were attributed to genetics and 30 percent were from environmental factors. This study shows that while most cases are quite close, nature vs nurture can be dependent in different situations.
