UNIFICATION
In 1815 german states from loose grouping called the german confederation. Prussia was ready to unite the states
1861 Bismarck declared himself leader. This was against construction though. however, the king approved.
1864 Prussia and Austria formed an alliance. They then went to war with the other states to conquer them.
1866 Bismarck provokes the 7 weeks war for the borders to expand. Bismarck dominates the enemy.
1870 Prussia declared war on France to rally the southern states to fight with him. Bismarck believes that having a common enemy will unite all the states.
Nationalism is the belief that people should be loyal to their nation by the bonds to others in the country. In Germany, Bismarck found a way to unite Germany.
