THE NATIONAL HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM

THE MAIN EXHIBIT

  • The main exhibit consists of 3 floors
  • Each floor covers one section of the Holocaust
  • Visitors start at the top floor and work their way down
  • A visit takes 1-3 hours

THE NAZI ASSAULT (1933-1939)

  • This floor covers the Nazis' rise to power
  • It also discusses how the events of the Holocaust could have taken place

THE "FINAL SOLUTION" (1940-1945)

  • This is the second floor of the exhibition
  • It talks about the evolution of the Nazi attitude toward Jews during WWII
  • It discusses ghettoization, mass murder, and gas chambers

THE LAST CHAPTER

  • The final floor talks about the end of WWII
  • It discusses the liberation of the victims
  • Also talks about the Nazis' defeat
  • And the aftermath of the Holocaust
