PRESENTATION OUTLINE
HOW DO HUMANS MAKE SOUND TO COMMUNICATE?
INTRODUCTION
After my health unit I thought I knew everything about humans. Then my mom said, "but do you know how a human makes sound ?" and I realized that there is still so much I need to learn. I wanted to find out so I did some research.
VIBRATION
- Vibration means something moving rapidly back and forth.
- Humans need vibrations to hear and speak.
- Bands of tissue in our throats vibrate to make sound.
- When vibration goes in the air and goes to the ear , you can hear sound.
- Sound is carried by waves made of vibrating molecules.
Bad noise is made up of
irregular vibrations.
Good sound is made of regular vibrations.
THE EAR SENDS THE SOUND TO THE BRAIN BECAUSE THE EAR DOES NOT KNOW LANGUAGE BUT THE BRAIN DOES. SO, HOW DO HUMANS LEARN A LANGUGE?
LEARNING A LANGUAGE
- Humans learn a language by listening to the patterns, melody, spaces, loudness and pitch in the sounds.
- To speak and write words, you are using part of your brain known as brocas.
- When you listen to or read words you are using a part of your brain called wernicke.
- Our brains are wired to learn a language.
CONCLUSION
It is important to know this information especially if you are a doctor. Doctors can help people and when they really understand how humans communicate then they can find ways to help the person that can't hear.
I'm still wondering about...
How people lose their ability to hear and speak and how the brain turns sound into real language.
