• Not a character in the story
• Almost never refer to themselves

FIRST PERSON

• Character in the story
• Only gives insight into their own mind
• Commonly uses the word "I"
• Should never be trusted, check for credibility
• Sometimes called a persona

THIRD PERSON: LIMITED

• Talks about a certain character as someone else
• Commonly uses the words he and she
• Info on other characters is very limited

• The attitude of a story
• Can be affected by point of view
• Part of the stories voice

VOICE

• One part is the tone
• Refers to the writers use of language
• Affected by tone and word choice
• Can often help determine the writer of the story
• Is sometimes purposely switched
