BIRTHPLACE
- Year of 1769: Napoleon was born in Corsica
YOUNGER YEARS
- He went off to become a liutenant in the artillary in 1785.
- He also finsihed military school before he did this.
Becoming a hero:
Napoleon was considered a hero in 1795 when he was appointed by a government official to protect the French delegates. When he fended off the royalist rebels, he was known as a hero.
Other accomplishments:
- He successfully led an expedition to egypt
- He led a french army into Italy and won a series of wars.
- He defeated Austria in one of the wars.
Napoleon takes over France
In 1799, the directory had lost control of France and its people, so when Napoleon got back from Egypt his friends urged him to take over France.

- Britain, Austria and russia joined to drive napoleon from power
- Eventually, they signed a peace treaty as a result of war and diplomacy
Napoleons Rule:
When Napoleon ruled he was granted all real power with a plebiscite in 1800. He also focused on building a strong economy for France and he set up lycées or government public schools.
Napoleon becomes emperor:
Napoleon became the emperor of France in 1804 he signaled that he was more powerful than the church by taking the crown himself from the pope.
Napoleon looses American territories:
Napoleon lost the American territories to African slaves when they took control of the colonists and gave them diseases. He also needed to increase the sugar industry sales. After the failed trip to St. Domingue, he let go of the colonies.
Battle of Trafalgar:
This battle took place in 1805 off the southwest coast of Spain. Haratio Nelson and Napoleon battled at sea. Nelson had better sea warfare and defeated Napoleon because he split the French fleet and captured their ships.
RESULTS OF TRAFALGER WAR:
- Insured the supremacy of the British fleet for the next 100 years.
- It forced to give up his plans on invading Britain.
Napoleons downfall
-Napoleon's wife gave birth to Napoleon II.
- he set up a blockade to destroy British trade, but the plan backfired and the British made their own blockade which caused France to not be able to trade. The British blockade was more successful.
NAPOLEONS DOWNFALL:
- The 1808 peninsular war made napoleon loose 300,000 men.
- In 1812 the battle Borodino, limited napoleons army to only 10,000 men.
- The battle of waterloo was when napoleon was defeated in 1815 by british and prussian forces
- Napoleons last bid for power was the 100 days war and the british shipped him to St. Helena for six years
- Napoleon Bonaparte died in 1812 from cancer or stomach ailment.
