INFLUENCE ON WORLD

• Comaneci competed at the 1976 Olympics in the sport of gymnastics
• She was only 14 years old, only 4'11", and only 86 lbs.!
• There are 4 events in gymnastics: bars, beam, floor, and vault
• Her first 10.0 was for her beam routine
• When everyone saw it motivated them to want to score a perfect 10.0

INTERESTING FACTS

• When her score appeared the score board was not set for a 10.0 so it came out as 1.00
• "Jump off the beam, flip off the bars, follow your dreams, and reach for the starts."
• She placed 13th at one competition and her coach gave her a doll to make sure she never got 13th again.
• She never did. She went on to score 4 more 10.0 after the 1976 Olympics
• She always traveled to a competition with a Eskimo doll her brother gave her.
