ECONOMY:

SOUTH

SOUTH

  • No factories to produce guns or ammunition
  • Its railroads were small and not interconnected
  • Hard for the South to move food, weapons and men quickly
  • Focused on cash crops like tobacco and cotton
  • Did not produce enough food to feed the southern population

ECONOMY:

North

NORTH

  • Enough food and enough factories to make weapons for all of its soldiers
  • Extensive rail network that could transport men and weapons rapidly
  • Material and financial advantages
  • Population that was more than twice that of the South

GEOGRAPHY:

South

SOUTH

  • In January it has mild days and cool nights
  • Mountains, sub-tropical forests, and great farming lands
  • Rainfalls, and they’re rivers are slow and easy to navigate
  • Towns by the river, short winters and long summers
  • Agriculturally based, which required slave labor

GEOGRAPHY:

North

NORTH

  • Vast forests and they’re land wasn’t as productive for farming as the south
  • Winters were long cold and snowy
  • Fast rivers, which made rivers difficult to navigate and also very rocky
  • Made textiles, lumber, furs, mining, and shipping there way of life
  • Which led to a very diverse economy
