Biography

Hephaestus was the god of fire, metal working, stone masonry, forges, and the Art of Sculpture. He is represented by a hammer, anvil, tongs, or quail. He was born deformed. His parents are Zeus and Hera.

His siblings were Ares, Eileithyia, Enyo, Athena, Artimis, Aphrodite, Dionysus, Hebe, Hermes, Heracles, Helen of Troy, Perseus, Minos, The Muses, and The Graces. His wife was Aphrodite and his children were Thalia, Eucleia, Eupheme, Philophrosyne, Cabeiri, and Euthenia.

Myth

Hephaestus married Aphrodite, the most beautiful goddess ever, due to an arrangement from Zeus. They loved each other, but Aphrodite had an affair with Ares, Hephaestus's brother. When Hephaestus found out about this, he made a plan to trap them to humiliate them. He made a golden net to trap them the next time they had an affair. The plan worked and Hephaestus was able to trap them and humiliate them.

MICTLĀNTĒCUTLI

Biography

Mictlāntēcutli was the God of the Dead and King of Mictlan(the lowest underworld). He is also the fifth Lord of the Night. His wife is Mictlancihuatl. In art he is usually showed as bones or a skeleton. He represents Death and is represented by spiders, owls, bats, and the direction South.

Myth

To create life, Quetzalcoatl, a god of creation,needed the bones from those that lived in the previous world, the Fourth Sun. At first Mictlantecuhtli agreed but when Quetzalcoatl came to collect the bones Mictlantecuhtli changed his mind. Fortunately, Quetzalcoatl managed to escape. However, on his way back up he dropped some bones and broke some of them. This explains why humans all have different sizes.

HURACAN

Biography

Huracan was the God of the Storm, God of the Wind, God of the Fire, was a creator god. He was cranky and moody. His name means "one legged" and he was one legged. He represents wind, storm, fire, and sky.

Myth

He was present at all three attempts to create humanity, in which he did most of work. During the second attempt, he caused a flood after they angered the gods. The flood was called the Great Flood and it wiped out the second generation. Some people tried to hide but failed to live with Huracan's massive storm. He was doing all of this under the direction of Kukulkán and Tepeu.

MIKULA

Biography

Mikula is the God of the Hero and is also known as a plowman. He is strong, handsome, and very clever. His mother was Mati-Syra-Zenla. He represents agricultural production and is represented by a plow.

Myth

Vol'ga Suiatoslavovich, a prince, was riding through the forest with his escorts one day when they heard a plow man calling to his horse. They wanted to see who it was so they rode really fast but they could never catch up to that plowman. After two and a half days, they finally reached the plowman. The plowman turned out to be Mikula. Mikula warned the prince that there were robbers nearby coming for them and so he decided to go in the forest looking for them.
