FRUITS

  • Fruits are the seed bearing structure in flowering plants. The fruit group consists of any fruits or any 100% fruit juice. Every day, children like you should have at least 1.5 cups of fruit.

VEGETABLES

  • Vegetables are plants or parts of plants used as food. Every day, children like you should have at least 2-2.5 cups of vegetables each day.

GRAINS

  • Grains are wheat or any other cultivated cereal crop used as food. Grains include any food with wheat, rice, oats, cornmeal, barley, or other types of cereal. Every day, children like you should have at least 5-8 ounces of grains.

PROTEINS

  • Proteins are animal based products and plant based products to use as food. All foods made from meat, poultry, seafood, beans, peas, and eggs are considered proteins. Every day, children like you should have at least 5-6.5 ounces of protein each day.

DAIRY

  • Dairy is food or drinks that are made from milk. Dairies include cheese, yogurt, butter, and ice cream. Every day, children like you should have at least 3 cups of dairy.

That concludes that you should always try to have different varieties of different foods. But, it’s okay to eat a sweet treat every once in a while if it’s all in moderation. 😁
