  • Objective- Sees and hears everything
  • Omaliscient- he knows everything and tells the reader whatever he wants
  • limited Omaliscient- Knows the thoughts of just one character

THE NARRATOR

  • A 15 year old man named Otto Peltonen is telling the story
  • Example 1: "That way, Otto," she said, "I can see it through your eyes.
  • Example 2: I still can't believe how tall you got, Otto.
  • He was born is Lehtimäki, Finland
  • He is going to America along with his mom and his two sisters to stay with his dad

  • He worked as a coal miner
  • Got married a the age of 27
  • Got wounded in WWI by a machine gun

THE NARRATORS POINT OF VIEW

  • The narrator is somebody in the story
  • Example: I touched mothers shoulder and said let me.
  • Example two: I can't believe how quiet our farm is.
  • The book is first person
  • Example: I asked father who owned the big castle-style house

  • First mom,Otto,Lisa,and Helena get on a boat to America
  • Next Otto meats a new friend and they hang out all the time
  • Also Otto finds out that Nikko's dad works in the same mine but gets payed more
  • After that Otto gets a job in the mines
  • the first time he comes up from the mine he finds out that there is a sauna

  • Then some of the miners make a group to go agents the owners of the minne
  • Then ottos family leaves the area and bye a farm away from the town
  • After that Ottos friend nikko leaves America to live with his family in Finland

OPINION

  • I think that the book is good
  • There are a lot of forren words wich make the book a little hard

IN CONCLUSION

  • In conclusion the book was not my favort but it was good.
