PRESENTATION OUTLINE
To make my photographs look professional I will be using a white background photo-shoot set. This location is appropriate because it enables my models to stand out and many of my models contrast with the backdrop. All of the magazine's I analysed had some of their models against a white backdrop and this will allow me to attract my target audience as I can clearly represent the grime genre. I will definitely be using the photo-shoot set as it will make my magazine more realistic and it will contain more attractive photographs.
My models could pose sitting down and in many other various positions on these stairs which would make my magazine more attractive. These stairs are leading into a council estate and that portrays my genre well as many grime artists have had a tough up bringing. The stairs are also well lit and therefore my photographs will have clear and effective lighting. I will be using this location as it looks rough and therefore relates well to the grime genre.
Many grime music magazines have used a closed shop as the background location for their photo-shoots and this is done because generally grime artists are associated with being on street corners. Also, I think that the location would work well because it is not stereotypical like the photo-shoot set and isn't as boring. The metal also makes the location look rough which is what I want my photographs to portray as it links in well with my music genre of choice.
A construction site as a location is not expected and that is one of the reasons why I have decided to use it. Grime music involves thinking outside of the box and not doing what other artists do and I think that by having a location like this I can represent this to my readers.
Using a white wall as a location was one of my considerations however, I decided that this location would not be very appropriate as I have already decided that I would be using the photo-shoot set which provides a white background and will produce similar photographs.
A brick wall is a basic idea for a location but I think that by using it as a background it enables the 'street' aspect of grime to be represented. Due to it being plain and not very interesting I will not be taking a lot of photographs against this background.
The pillars provide dimension and would make my photographs look 3D which would be appealing and stand out to my target audience. However, the location looks good in a canted angle and I don't think that would work well with my models.
WIDE ALLY/ BLACK GARAGE DOOR
The wide ally would be perfect for my photo-shoot because it will be dark when I take the photographs and this will work effectively when making the models stand out and be the main focus. Also, the dark colours are stereotypical of the grime genre and will instantly appeal to my target audience. This is a good idea for a location because I am already using a white photo-shoot location and the black contrasts with it well allowing me to have a variety of photographs.
One of my initial considerations was to use the woods as a location. However, from my analysis of music magazines non of them included the woods as a location. I also think that this particular location will not link in well with my genre as it is not 'rough' looking.
I HAVE CHOSEN
- WIDE ALLY
- BRICK WALL
- CONSTRUCTION SITE
- STAIRS
- PHOTO-SHOOT SET
I have decided on the locations listed because I think that they will represent the grime genre well and will also appeal to my target audience because they are not stereotypical locations. All of the locations chosen have somewhat plain backgrounds and this will ensure that my models are the main focus which will allow me to emphasise my chosen genre.
