PRESENTATION OUTLINE
MY LIFE AS ME:A MAPLE TREE
Hi!
My name is Ted and I am a maple tree! I'm here to tell you all about my funtastic life as a tree living in the local park!
SUMMER
The sun shines brightly over my green leaves. This is my favorite time of year. I feel wonderful as I hear children's laughs and giggles. I often feel squirrels scampering in my branches.
SUMMER
The sun stays in the sky the longest around this time of year. The wide ark of its path gives me lots of energy for photosynthesis! That is how I make food for myself. Also, I can feel the chlorophyll rushing through my leaves.
SUMMER
It is so hot outside all the time! The nights are warm and the shape of the moon changes so much! It usually becomes full near the beginning to the middle of the month.
SUMMER
On a clear night, I can gaze at the stars until morning. My favorite constellation is Lyra. Every night I can spot it almost directly over my head.
FALL
I start to feel a little less energetic now. The sun no longer stays over my head for the great deal of time it did before. It is slowly getting colder. It is still present though, and the children are still playing around me and climbing in my branches.
FALL
My leaves are starting to change colors. The lessening sun makes me decrease my chlorophyll making, and the carotenoid already in my leaves begins to show. I am now a rainbow of beautiful colors, along with the rest of my tree friends! But I know it won't last long. Soon they start to fall to the ground, leaving me leaf-less.
FALL
The sky at night still amazes me. The moon is starting to get full earlier in the month now. I wonder why. Lyra is still up there, but it is getting a little bit lower in the sky as time passes.
FALL
Squirrels seem to be preparing for winter. They are stuffing acorns into every nook and cranny they can find in me.
WINTER
My leaves have all fallen, and now I am bare. A light dusting of snow has covered my branches though. I feel so depressed and sluggish. The children no longer climb in my branches. Even with all the other trees in the park, I am lonely, and I can sense that they are too.
WINTER
There is barely any sunlight anymore. The sun seems so low now all the time. It is so very cold.
WINTER
The sky is still fine I guess. I can no longer see Lyra though, and that makes me a sad tree. The moon now gets full within the first few days of the month, which gives me nothing to look forward to.
SPRING
Finally! Spring has sprung! I made it through that long winter! Now I feel so refreshed and happy. Buds have started popping up on my branches. The first stage before my new leaves come.
SPRING
Something odd did happen to me very early in the Spring though. A man came along and drilled a little hole in me. A tap was attached to me. He attached a bucket to the hole. Then I felt liquid pouring out of me. I think they call it syrup.
SPRING
The sunlight is coming back! It's ark is getting higher in the sky! I can start making chlorophyll a little now. The heat is luxurious and plentiful compared to the long cold winter.
SPRING
Lyra is coming back! I can see it again, and I now enjoy night again. The full moon comes near the middle of the month now, and I am loving it!
I continue to love Summer, Spring, and Fall! Playing children make my day! Thanks for reading!
