E 1: ENVISION- C1 : COURAGE

  • Always do the right thing- uphold law despite political pressures, Operated in life threatening anti-terror and anti-extremist areas. To Aim which none have imagined or attempted— sought & gained political support to pursue “visible governance and invisible government” through the Govt Digital transformation initiative, viz; ePragati and transformed 253 G2C Services.

CREATIVITY

  • Reimagine problem solving to gain a value added outcome— Intangible ideas were transformed to intelligent experiences using design thinking and Data first strategy in India’s largest Govt Digital Transformation Initiative. Created Criminals Profile systems and Linked the information silos across crime reports to create one view. Ideas flash when you listen to Experience without judging. The more diverse the experience, the better — Ops debriefing enabled me to conceptualise new strategies and tactics. Listening to IT Tool SMEs enabled to answer design thinking asks.

E2: ENERGISE- I 1 INSPIRATION

  • Walk your Talk—Lead and Participated in several ops . Stand up for your team— because it is your team. Always took responsibility for the SNAFU, credited success to my team. Ensured my boys got the medals. Empowered my teams with Operational Frameworks which have inherent freedom to be creative.

I2 - INTIMIDATION

  • Subculture of intimidation Invoke it only when Law is not upheld. Ratio of inspiration to intimidation is 70:30

E3: EXECUTE- D: DIFFERENTAITION

  • Execution is My most restless phase. Make detailed R&R. Delegate a lot but have more than necessary checkpoints- because ops involve lives, so attend all briefing and debriefing sessions. In the IT Projects attend all Standup meetings, PMC meetings. Whiteboard extensively.

INTEGRATION

  • Make the teams see the Big Picture and hang it on the Wall- Brief Ops on Sand models. In IT Projects- very detailed Project Plans. I typically spend lot of time on the Drawing Board.
