My FIGURATIVE language Presentation!!!!!!!!!

Idiom....
An idiom is a phrase or expression which means something different from what the words actually say. Example: Pull your socks up before you get worse.

Hyperbole...
A hyperbole is a figure of speech using exaggerations.
Example: She is as thin as a toothpick!

Simile....
A comparison of two (or more) unlike things using the words"like" or "as".
Example: She is as flat as a pancake.

Alliteration...
Alliteration is the repetition of (first) initial consonant sound in two or more neighboring words.
Example: Silly Sally slips on slippery slushy ice.

Personification...
Personification is giving a non-human thing (plants animals and objects) Human traits (qualities,feelings,ideas, and/or characteristics).
Example: The lightning is dancing across the sky.

Metaphor...
A metaphor is a comparison of two (or more) unlike things without using "like" or "as". Usually uses the words "is" or "are".
Example: My teacher is a red fire breathing dragon.

Onomatopoeia....
An onomatopoeia is the use of words that sound like the noise they name or... words that imitate sounds.
Example: The books on the table fell with a loud thump.
