MY CULTURE

I was raised in a Mormon household. Most of my family are Mormons. Though since the age of 13, I’ve left the church and have more agnostic beliefs.

My great (x4) grandmother, Anne, came to America from Czechia and married a 21 year old family friend at the age of 14.

Newport Beach, Rhode Island is one of my families favorite places to go when we visit relatives in Connecticut.

My access to popular media as a kid was limited, due to strict parenting from my dad based on religion. But I was allowed to watch old shows and movies, and Star Trek remains my #1.

The Monkees music and TV Show was very prominent in my childhood.

Once I got older, I found The Beatles. Turns out people consider The Monkees a rip-off version, but I love them both equally.

The Percy Jackson series shaped me into the person I am today. I could read these books over and over.

Around the same time I left the Mormon church, I had known for a while that I was transgender. LGBT+ is a culture, but I wouldn’t say I’m super active in it. Nevertheless, I’m a part of it.

A tradition my older sister and I like to do, is going to the Columbus Zoo and getting Dip N Dots. Even when it’s cold outside.

2 of my brothers and I like to play acoustic guitar. I got the passion for it from them, and it’s something we bond over.
