Muslim vs Christianity Creation Stories

The similarities and diffrences

The Religious Beliefs of the Muslims

  • The one God is Allah
  • Belief in the holy book sent to all prophets ex. Koran from Muhammad,Bible from Jesus and Torah from Moses.
  • Belief in Angels(Both).
  • Believe all prophets were sent by God(Both, although Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet not the Son of God).
  • Belief in Judgment Day(The day that God decides where you deserve to go once you die)and life after death(Both).
  • Belief in divine decree, meaning that nothing happens without God's knowledge. He does however allow you to decide if you want to live a life of evil or good, because we will all end up being judged on Judgment Day(Both).
  • Fast during the days of Ramadan.
  • Give 2.5% of earnings to poor or needy.
  • Complete journey to Mecca at least once in lifetime.
  • "For Muslims believe there is only one God who created everything. God's world is a good world, and when people obey or submit to God then life is good."(Muslim Creation Story, 2, paragraph 5).
  • "Muslims believe that this means humans have been given everything on earth to care for and look after. The Koran teaches that Muslims should be thankful for all living things, for God is the creator of all life."(Muslim Creation Story, 2, paragraph 5).

The Religous Beliefs of Christians

  • Belief in one God(Both).
  • Love God with all thy heart, soul, and mind.
  • Love thy neighbor
  • Worship no other God(Both).
  • Do not misuse the name of God.
  • Observe Sabbath Day(Day of rest) on Sundays.
  • Keep all you do Holy
  • Honor thy mother and father.
  • Do not murder.
  • Do not commit adultery(Sex without marriage).
  • Do not murder.
  • Do not steal.
  • Do not accuse anyone falsely.
  • Do not tell lies about other people.
  • Do not envy other's possessions.
  • Tithe 10% of you earnnings.
  • "Christian believe that humans are the most important of God's creations."(Christian Creation Story, 1, paragraph 4).
  • "But they believe that God will create a new and better world where those who have tried to live as God wants, will live for ever." (Christian Creation Story, 1, paragraph 4).

The Purpose of the Muslim Creation Story

  • To remind Muslims of God's greatness.
  • "At the heart of the creation story is something which Muslims all over the world hear every day in their Call to Prayer - God is great"(Muslim Creation Story, 2, Paragraph 5).

The Purpose of the Christian Creation Story

  • To show us all have Broken God's Law.
  • To explain God's purpose in creating human beings
  • "For Christians the most important part of this story is the final creation of human beings."(Christian Creation Story, 1, paragraph 4).

Structure of Muslim Creation Story

  • There is a lot of imagery in this text
  • "He made all the creatures, which walk, swim. Crawl and fly on the face of the earth. He made the angels, and the sun, moon and the stars to dwell in the universe. And consider, as the Koran says, how God poured down the rain in torrents, and broke up the soil to bring forth the corm, the grapes and other vegetation; the olive and the palm, the fruit trees and the grass."(Muslim Creation Story, 2, paragraph 2.)

Structure of the Christians Creation Story

  • There is Irony in the creation story.
  • "God told Adam he would now have to toil and sweat to work the very soil from which he had been created."(Christian Creation Story, 1, paragraph 3).
