AL ZAHRAWI

  • Created 1,500 page surgery encyclopedia
  • Created dissolving stitches made of cat guts
  • Preformed the first caesarean surgery and created the first pair of forceps

  • Invented in Yemen in the 9th century
  • Durning the 16th century coffee really started to spread around the world

FLYING MACHINE (ABBAS IBN FIRNAS)

  • He was the first to really try to make a flying machine
  • In the 9th century he constructed a flying abject for humans that roughly resembled a bird

  • In 859 she founded the first degree-granting university
  • It was made in Fez, Morocco
  • It is still operating after 1,200 years

ALGEBRA

  • Built from Greek and Hindu roots
  • Algebra was first called Kitab al-Jabr Wa I-Mugabala which means The Book of Reasoning and Balancing

  • Ibn al-Haittham proved that we see objects because light bounces off of them
  • He also explained how the eye sees everything upright and not upside down

  • According to some people prophet Mohammed popularized the toothbrush around 600
  • He would brush his teeth with a twig from the Meswak tree

  • Come from Egypt in the 9th century
  • First medical center was the Ahmad ibn Tulun Hospital in Cairo that was founded in 872
