BAGHDAD

  • Founded in 8th century by Caliph al-Mansur
  • In between Tigris and Euphrates rivers
  • Took over 100,000 workers to build
  • The city was generally round, with several layers

MOSQUE

  • A building for worship
  • Usually have one minaret
  • In courtyard is fountain for washing before prayer
  • The Imam gives sermons from minbar
