Treble Clef
A symbol located at the beginning of a staff to locate the upper pitches
Bass clef
A symbol located at the beginning of a staff to indicate the lower piches.
Staff
A set of 5 lines and 4 spaces used to clearly show musical notation
Grand staff
A staff that combines a treble and bass staff
Key signature
The sharps and flats located at the beginning of a piece to indicate the tonality
Double bar line
A set of two vertical lines showing the end of a piece
Time signature
A symbol placed at the left side of the staff to indicate the meter (number of beats per measure)
Beat
A regular pulse of music
Rhythm
Division of the beat into marked patterns

Half Step
The distance of two notes next to each other ex. G to G sharp
Whole Step
A distance of two half steps

A curved line connecting two notes of the same pitch to add their values together
Slur
A curved line connecting several notes to show that they should be played legato
Accent
Musical marking used to stress a particular beat
