  • Playful/Dance

1930's

  • Swing stayed very popular
  • Blues addresses many current issues
  • While more popular music was very upbeat

1940's

  • Music reflected the pain of World War One while trying to stay upbeat and look to the future
  • Jazz, big band , and swing where some popular styles

1950's

  • The birth of rock and roll
  • This decade's music showed major social changes
  • And opened the world to a larger variety of artists and styles
  • While young musicians like Elvis Presley dominated the charts and the minds of young girls

1960's

  • Both commercial bands(The Monkees) and Revolutionary Artists such as Bob Dylan were popular
  • Some of the greatest Singers and song writers emerged along with amazing instrumentalists

1970's

  • The most popular genre was Disco
  • This was a transition age for the seriousness of the 60's to the wide fun variety of the 80's
  • Heavy rock and Punk rock also emerged

1980's

  • Music was greatly changed by the introduction of MTV artist now needed to be creative and look good
  • Hip-Hop became mainstream

1990's

  • This was the era of extremes with overproduced and studio manufactured bands and singers
  • Rap was the most popular but not always for talent
  • Rap feuds overshadowed talent and drug overdose killed many great artists

Today

  • There is a huge variety such as Rap, Pop, Rock, Grundge, Contry, Gospel, and many more
  • Some new styles are Indie-Rock and Emo
  • Some popular bands are Fall out boy , Paramore, Blink-182, and many more

Math and science relates to Music because the mathematic and scientific Fibonacci pattern is found in piano scales and also in some music patterns. Another reason is most older musicians had a scientific or mathematic back ground.
