MOUTH MUSIC

  • Mouth music originated in edinburgh where it is usally sung/danced in ceilidhs
  • It was found in 1988 it became more popular in 1990 with the band mouth music
  • Mouth music in normally uncompanied songs in gaelic or nonsence words
  • Gaelicnonsense words sung in imitation of the sound of bagpipes
  • It in volves scat singing and words not in a dictionary

SCOTS BALAD

  • Scots ballads are used to tell a story through scots language
  • Examples of scots ballad are Loch Lomond and flower of Scotland
  • Normally only one voice and one instrument
  • The same music is repeated for each verse
  • It Dates back to the 15th century

  • rhythmic accompaniment with a bass note played on the beat
  • And a chord off the beat ussally played with a piano.

  • It is commonly played on the bagpipes

  • It is a skipping dance
