Slide Notes

It is our differences that make us strong. The creators of comic book heroes get it. Justice league, Fantastic Four, The Avengers, X-Men; they are all made up of heroes with their own special talents.

Imagine if they all had the same power, like fire abilities.; that would be great so long as they were only faced with icy villains, but what if their Villain was super fast? What if they needed to lift a very heavy door? What if they needed to fly? They are stronger together because they can rely on each others unique skill sets in times of need.

Everyone has something they are good at. These can give us a look at how we think and learn. They are our super abilities...

There are 8 different kinds

You might be adept at one or several
According to Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligence's, there are 8 different kinds. This slide will explore them all, comparing each to the Strengths/Abilities of the Super Heroes of Comic Book Worlds.

As a learner, maybe one will jump out at you, ("That's Me!") or maybe a few. Maybe one is a modality of learning that you will aspire to develop.

As a teacher, these comparisons might help you see the variety of student learners you have in your classroom differently.

"Gardner maintains that his theory of multiple intelligence's should "empower learners", not restrict them to one modality of learning."
