  • The 18th article of amendment to the constitution of the U.S. is hereby repealed
  • It was never illegal to drink
  • The words "Locked Door" ment a secret code

JIM CROW LAWS

  • Started: 1890
  • Woodrow Wilson was President
  • Laws followed the 1800-1866 Black Codes
  • Signs were put up every where
  • Blacks were separate but equal
  • The laws in the South were based on race

JIM CROW LAWS

  • It was difficult for blacks to vote
  • "Jim Crow" came from an African American character in a song
  • They enforced segregation
  • The word segregation soon became Jim Crow Laws

WW1

  • War was declared on April 6, 1917
  • U.S. won on Nov. 11, 1918
  • U.S. mobilized over 4 million troops
  • U.S. suffered 110,000 deaths
  • Cause: Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
