The film relates the story of a young man's rise in the criminal underworld in prohibition-era urban America.
The supporting players include Beryl Mercer, Donald Cook, and Mae Clarke.
Many of the characters in the film were based on actual people.

considered a realistic and harrowing account of warfare in World War I
follows a group of German schoolboys, talked into enlisting at the beginning of WW1 by their jingoistic teacher.
The film isn't about heroism but about drudgery & futility & the gulf between the concept of war & the actuality.

A beautiful girl, Snow White, goes to the forest in the house of seven dwarfs to hide from her stepmother, the wicked Queen.
The Queen is jealous because she wants to be known as "the fairest in the land"
The dwarfs rush home to chase the witch away, but they are too late to save Snow White from the poisoned apple.
a prince, who had previously met & fallen in love with Snow White, learns of her eternal sleep & visits her coffin.
