Have you ever wondered about Mount Vesuvius? Its erruption attracted scientists all over the world. It is still active, but we are not sure if it will errupt again. Scientists are still not sure about all of its secrets. If you want to find out more, read on.

Mount Vesuvius, located in Naples, Italy, errupted on August 24 in 79 AD. The erruption from Mt. Vesusvius made the soil exetremely fertile. Mt. Vesusivus is studied by scientists all over the world because it errupts frequently and it is easy to reach. There is much proof that the volcano buried Pompei in ash becuase jewelry, old food, and a letter from Pliny the younger gave much information on the erruption.

Now you know what happend to the city,but were people found? Humans were found laying on the streets of Pompeii. About 5,000 people were killed and the population was about 20,000 which means that about 15,000 fleed or survied in there homes. A chamber was found nere the beach contaning hundreds of skeleton. Could the people of Pompeii attemted hiding there?

Mount Vesuvius was the height of4,198 in 1980. Afater every erruption it becomes bigger because the ash and dust piles over the volcano. Mount Vesuvius is still active today so it can still change. Vesuvius originated about 200,000 years ago. Now the slopes of Vesuvius are covered with vinyards and orchhards. Before the erruption in 1631 there were three lakes the people drank from. Scientist still research mount Vesuvius.

  • The letter from Pliny yhe younger gave a lot of interesting information on the erruption.
