SET UP

  • First gather your equipment:
  • Stop watch
  • Slow and fast cars
  • Tape
  • 3 Meter sticks

STARTING

  • Then we decided the distances we wanted to the cars to travel
  • We chose: 1m, 1 1/2m, 2m, 2 1/2m, 3m
  • Before we started we chose to time the fast car first
  • Doing a few test rounds first, we timed the fast car
  • Then we recorded the findings

TIMES FOR FAST CAR

  • 1m = 2.3s
  • 1 1/2m= 3.7s
  • 2m = 5.3s
  • 2 1/2 = 6.7s
  • 3m = 8.1s

TIMES FOR SLOW CAR

  • 1m = 4.8s
  • 1 1/2m = 8s
  • 2m = 10.4s
  • 2 1/2m = 12.6s
  • 3m =17.1s

SLOPE

  • Fast car: 1/2
  • Slow car: .187

VELOCITIES

  • Fast car: .383 m/s
  • Slow car: .189 m/s

CONCLUSION

  • By recording the times of the slow and fast cars we were able to calculate the slope
  • and velocity from the graphs we made.
  • FINDING the slope and velocity posed to be a problem
  • But with help we found the slope and velocity of the fast car was greater than the slow car
  • The fast car was .194m/s faster than the slow car, as we believed from the start
