WHAT ARE BASE WORDS?

  • A base word is a word in its simplest form
  • Examples; write, read, do, heat

ROOT WORDS

  • They are the form off a word after all other morphemes are taking off
  • Example; port, bell, geo, man

PREFIXES

  • Prefixes are added to the beginning of base words
  • They change the meaning of the base words
  • Example; -pre, -re, -un

SUFIXES

  • Sufixes are added to the end of base words
  • They change the meaning of the base word
  • Example; -ful, -able, -less, -ness
