• In order to show wealth, religious ness, and or power.
• Almost every society has varying examples of monumental architecture.

PYRAMIDS

• Used to protect pharaos and their wealth into the afterlife
• Still standing today
• Took around 30 years to build each one
• Created by hundreds of thousands of workers
• Built as tombs for ancient pharaos

THE SPHINX

• It is the greatest monumental sculpture in the world
• The sphinx is a part of a series of complex
• structures which includes the sphinx pyramid,
• And the pyramids of Giza.

Most Memorable
The most memorable architecture of Egypt is obviously it's pyramids for their grandeur and protection to their kings.

How did they do it?
Each pyramid that was built was built by at 100,000 workers at a time. They each took at least thirty years to be completed, which was about how long each pharaoh lived. These tombs served as their vessels into the afterlife.

SHI HUANGDI'S TOMB

• Shi Huangdi was buried in Xian, China
• He was buried with an army made of terra cotta.
• The warriors were built to protect him in his afterlife.
• Almost all of the pieces are still intact.
• Each piece is unique with different expressions and armor

GREAT WALL OF CHINA

• The wall was built to keep invaders out.
• Thousands of men were forced to work on the wall.
• Everyman that worked on it was executed so that they
• couldn't spread the secrets of how they built it.
• It is rumored that it is visible from space
