• Mary Ludwig Hays McCauley was her real name
• The soldiers called her " Moll of the Pitcher" because she
• brought water to cool the cannons.
• She was born in 1754 near Trenton, New Jersey.

WHAT SHE DID

• At the battle of Monmouth Court House her husband, John Hays, is
• wounded at his post and she took his place.
• She died in 1832
