Summary:
This book is about Katniss Everdeen and District 13 trying to take down President Snow and the capitol. Katniss has alot of challenges though. The book takes place in distric 13 and the capitol ,in the future.

In the hunger games Katniss has developed a relationship with Peeta Mellark , but she also likes Gale Hawthorn. She wants to be with both of the , so she debates through the book about who she likes.

Characterization: Katniss
She has been in the hunger games twice. She is a teenage girl. She hates President Snow.
Character trait 1 Sad and doubts that her life will ever be the same again.
"But no one us is returning except me" (pg.3) Katniss is sad that District 12 is destroyed.
Character trait 2 Katniss will only be the leader if she gets what she wants.
"I will only be your mockingjay if , I can keep my pet , the victors will be granted immunity, I hunt with Gale in the woods and I kill Snow. (pg.38) Katniss wants to have these requests done then she will be the Mockingjay/leader.
Character trait 3 Katniss realizes who the real enemy is "I release the string. And President Coin collapses over the side of the balcony and plunges to the ground." (pg.371) Katniss realizes that she made a promise with President Snow not to tell lies so she kills President Coin instead becasuse she killed kantiss's sister
Theme 1 People are not always what they seem
"Still,I can never get around the fact that District 13 was instrumental in 12's destruction. this doesn't absolve me of blame - there's plenty of blame to go around.(pg.6) Katinss is saying that its not just her fault that District 12 was destroyed.
Theme 2 Things don't always go like you want them to go. "'I'm doing everything wrong.He's been tortured!He's been hijacked!"(pg.230) This quote explains that Katniss thinks she is responsible for Peeta's torture.
Theme 3 Realize who the real enemy is
"President Coin collapses over the balcony and plunges to the ground.Dead." (pg.371) This quote explains that Katniss realized that President Coin has done some bad things like killed her sister, and tried to kill Katniss .
Concluding slide
I really liked this book. It is really suspenseful. I would recommend the other books in this series: The Hunger Games and Catching fire.I give this book a 5 star rating.
