You should never connect to wifi you are unfamiliar with.
It increases your vulnerability for viruses.

Don't click popup windows!
Usually popup windows are embedded with triggers
They launch spyware or download unwanted files to your device.
Fortunately, most browsers have a built in popup blocker

Use Strong Passwords
The use of strong passwords makes it harder for you to get hacked.
It's not smart to have an easy password that could be easily figured out.
You should use a combination of capital & lower case letters, & numbers.
