HISTORY

• People have used illustrations to tell stories since 15,000 BC in France in cave drawings
• During the Renaissance, art and illustration could be mass produced due to the mechanical printing process

TIM BURTON

• A director and artist
• Known for his dark, spooky, and quirky films and illustrations
• Showed that illustrations could be creepy and weird as well as pretty

• The Bachelor illustration degree takes 4 years
• Harvard (Cambridge, MA), Brown (Providence, RI), and Vanderbilt (Nashville, TN) all offer illustration degrees
