PANCREAS GLAND

  • It is a soft greyish pink coloured gland .
  • It is 12 - 15 cm in length.
  • It has broad head and narrow tail and body.
  • Head of the pancreas lies Whithorn the curve of duodenum and tail extends as far as the spleen.

PANCREAS HORMONES AND ENZYMES

  • Hormones:-
  • Insulin hormone
  • Glucagon hormone
  • Enzymes:-

  • peptidase
  • Lipase
  • Trypsin or protease
  • Nuclease

FUNCTIONS OF PANCREATIC ENZYMES

  • Trypsin is converts protein to peptides
  • Peptidase is converts peptides to amino acids
  • Nuclease is converts nucleic acid
  • Lipase is converts lipids to simple fats
  • Amylase converts starch to glucose

FUNCTIONS OF PANCREATIC HORMONES

  • Insulin:- Decrease the sugar levels in the blood
  • Glucagon:- Increase the sugar levels in the blood
