PRESENTATION OUTLINE

INTERPHASE

  • G1- cell growth
  • S- DNA replication
  • G2- preperation for mitosis

PROPHASE

  • Chromosomes become visible
  • Nuclear membrane disintegrate
  • Spindle apparatus begins to form between poles

METAPHASE

  • Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell
  • The nucleus breaks down
  • The centrosome duplicates and the mitotic spindle form

ANAPHASE

  • Sister chromatids now become individual chromosomes

TELOPHASE

  • Chromosomes begin to unwind and become chromatins again
  • Nuclear membrane and nucleolus refroms
  • Spindles and asters break apart

Cytokinesis in plant cells occur with the formation of a cell plate that splits the cell into two daughter cells. This is different from animal cells where a cleavage furrow is formed to separate the cell into two.
