MY PLANET MARS

  • I decided to explore mars because it's a terrestrial planet like earth
  • Many other planets are made of gas, so a spacecraft could not land on them
  • It is a cold, dry, rocky desert with the highest mountain in the solar syst
  • We will explore Mars to find out why it no longer has the water and air it
  • We hope to learn the reason Mars no longer supports life, and if ea
Mars is a hospitable planet. From what we know Mars was once similar to how earth is today. This gives us a good reason to study mars, and to find out why it doesn't look like earth anymore. Mars is the planet we should study over any of the other planets because it's the second closest to planet earth. Also it is a solid planet so humans can actually walk on it. We should explore mars because we could build all sorts of buildings and if worst comes to worst on planet earth we could always have some people go over there.

SPACE CRAFT...

  • I want the space craft to be able to land on mars
  • A problem we will have to solve is how to get through the atamasheres
  • I want to be able to carry three rovers into space
  • A problem to be solved is how to make a safe landing
  • I want two control rooms so if one fails, we have a backup

SPACE CRAFT#1=HOMEWORK PASS

PROTOTYPE #2

  • I made sure there was room to prevent damage to rovers
  • Space for the rovers is important so they can later explore Mars
  • An improvement was a no-oxygen room to match air on spacecraft to air on M
  • A minor change was addition of wings so spacecraft could glide easily
  • Wheels were installed to land easily on Mars

Final Spacecraft

  • A GPS was installed as an improvement
  • One stationary and five adjustable jet engines was an improvement
  • Extra fuel storage was an improvement
  • A rover ramp was installed as an improvement
  • Cameras were installed on spaceship as an improvement

Parachute

  • Parachutes are used to slow down the spaceship before landing
  • The canopy of the parachute is part that opens up slow down parachute befor
  • The suspensions lines of the parachute is part the hold the canopy together
  • The load of the parachute is part that hold spaceship and attached to suspe
  • Parachutes open with a puff, causing a slow drift toward the ground

Entire Process

  • I learned Mars was once exactly like Earth today
  • I learned spacecraft use parachutes to land softly
  • I learned we must travel through two atmospheres to land on Mars
  • I learned Mars is a terrestrial planet like
  • I learned that solar system's highest planet is on Mars
