EXECUTIVE ORDER 8802
"There shall be no discrimination in the employment of workers in defense industries or government because of race, creed, color, or national origin."
This helped African Americans gain equality during the war economically.

WOMEN

Women joined armed forces as nurses and administrators. This allowed more men to take on combat positions.

ROSIE THE RIVETER
Rosie the Riveter encouraged women to take on jobs in the United States that usually belonged to men.

MEXICAN AMERICANS

MEXICAN AMERICANS
The federal government arranged for Mexican farmworkers to help with the harvest in the Southwest.

JAPANESE AMERICANS

THEY WERE FORCED INTO INTERMENT CAMPS AFTER PEARL HARBOR.

NATIVE AMERICANS

The Navajo Code Talkers created an unbreakable code for soldiers' use during WWII called the Navajo Code.
