  • Milton Hershey was very hard working
  • During his early years,he spent a lot of time trying to find out what his given talent was
  • He took an interest in the candy business and he developed a very successful chocolate factory and school
  • Milton Hershey became an apprentice to a candy-maker in Lancaster PA
  • At age 19,he opened his own taffy shop in Pennsylvania

  • Milton returned to Pennylvania and formed his own company.
  • It was called Hershey's Lancaster Caramel Company.
  • He put his caramel making skills to work,and created a successful.

  • His mom and Aunt Martha hand wrapped each caramel.
  • Milton would then load the caramel into the cart and sell it around town.
  • An English man who was fond of Milton's caramels offered to introduce Hershey's Lancaster Caramel Company to London.
  • Hershey sold his company for$1 million in 1900.
  • Hershey became fascinated with the display of chocolate making equipment and the rights to manufacture chocolate.

  • He went back to the heart of Pennsylvania's dairy country to make fine milk chocolate.
  • He began to build Hershey's factory in 1903.
  • It opened in 1905,and became the world's largest chocolate manufacturing plant.
  • He also built an entire community,which included a bank,department stores,a school,churches,an amusement park,a pool,a zoo,and a trolley system to transport his employees to and from work.
  • In the 1930's, during the Great Depression,, Hershey made sure that no man would be without pay.

  • He asked the workers in his area to create a museum, a sports arena, a performance theater,a grand hotel,and a new office building for the factory.
  • Milton Hershey was a very successful and true philanthropist.
  • He not only created a great chocolate factory, but he also put his talents and money into a school for children with low income,limited resources,and social need
  • In 1918, more than 20 years before his death in 1945, Milton Hershey donate his entire property and more than $60 million to the school in order to secure its future.
  • Also, Hershey made a huge impact on the food industry and people.

  • As a global leader in North America's top chocolate producer, the company has built a big business manufacturing such well-known chocolate and candy brands such as Hershey's,Kisses,Reese's peanut butter cups,Twizzlers licorice,and under license,Mounds candy bar,York peppermint patties,and Kit Katwafer bar.
  • Hershey also makes grocery goods, including baking chocolate, chocolate syrup,cocoa mix,cookies,snack nuts,breath mints,and Bubble gum.
