FRANCISCO I. MADERO

• 33rd President of Mexico
• Leader of Mexican Revolution
• Competed against Díaz in 1910 election
• Won, jailed by Díaz

SIGNIFICANT EVENT

• 1910, Election against Díaz and Madero
• Madero wins, Díaz jails Madero and Díaz is re-elected
• Madero creates an "Anti-Re-Election" because of Díaz
• Revolution begins approx. 1 year later

SIGNIFICANT EVENT

• Battle of Juárez lasts for three days (May 8-10)
• Díaz resigns and flees to Paris, France (May 25) after lossing in Juárez
• Díaz executed 5 years later (July 2, 1915) in Paris, France

OUTCOME OF REVOLUTIION

• No stability and hard ships
• Destroyed the old government and army of Díaz
• Porfirio Díaz executed
• Change in Economic and Social system

MEXICAN REVOLUTION VS. FRENCH REVOLUTION

• Similarities:
• Poverty inclined
• Had a major leader (Robespierre and Hidalgo)
• Execution on both major leaders (Louis XVI and Díaz)

MEXICAN REVOLUTION VS. FRENCH REVOLUTION

• Differences:
• After Independence, Mexico took turn downwards
• After Independence, France took turn upwards
• Mexico didn't experience intellectualism, whereas, in France they did
