MEXICAN AMERICAN WAR

The war between Texas and Mexico

In 1846-48, the Mexican American war came to be. Of course Mexico and the U.S were the main people in this. They fought because the president of Mexico wouldn't let Texas be independent, in odds, Texas tried to get their property

The battles of the Mexican–American War include all major engagements and most reported fights, including Thornton's Defeat, the Battle of Palo Alto, and the Battle of Resaca de la Palma, which took place prior to the official start of hostilities. the outcome of the war is the United States gaining 500,000 square miles during this war.

  • James Polk, captured the Mexican President and forced him to sign the treaty for Texas
  • Zachary Taylor,US Army general that forced a Mexican retreat at Buena Vista

The United States won the war. Yes a few territories change hands, the treaty gave the U.S lands that would become states of Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Southwestern Colorado, South a Western Wyoming.
