  • His son Stephen sold small parts of the land for cheap
  • This allowed Americans to live in that area for a cheaper price than in the US

  • The rail road helped the US advance in multiple ways.
  • It helped them expand more by creating a quick way to travel.
  • It gave a use to coal, creating more jobs in coal mining.
  • The rail system needed to be built before it was used.
  • Which opened even more jobs, this time in rail building.

  • The American military took control of Mexico City itself, the center of Mexico.
  • This brought Mexico to surrender and sign the treaty of Guadalupe hidalgo
