COMPARING KM & CM

  • 1 kilometer is 100,000 centimeters
  • The centimetre is a unit of length in the metric system, equal to one-hundredth of a metre
  • & kilometre is unit of length in the metric system equivalent to one thousand metres
  • Km in most of the countries to measure the distance between geographical locations

COMPARING L & ML

  • 1 Liter is1000 Milliliters
  • To find out how many milliliters in liters, you multiply by the factor
  • A liter is It is commonly used in daily life to measure the fluids
  • Milliliter is a volume unit in metric system
  • You use milliliters in everyday life like cooking

COMPARING G TO KG

  • 1 kilogram is 1000 grams
  • prefix kilo denotes the factor of 1000,makes it easier to remember how grams in kilogram
  • Gram is a metric system unit of mass, it is one thousandth (1/1000) of the metric system base unit, kilogram
  • Kilogram, the basic unit of mass is widely used in everyday life for measuring heavy things
  • Grams is more acurate to measure the weight of food

10 EVERYDAY METRICS
•paper sizes have been metric for many years
•If you go the Doctor and have your weight or height measured, it will usually be in metric
•When you go to the supermarket, you will probably find all weights, volumes, etc
•electricity is a unit of power, the watt, and all electricity pricing is in pence per kilowatt hour
•All cars in the world (including all those in the USA) have been fully metric since the development of interchangeable parts for the "world car concept" in the early 1970s
•Petrol and diesel fuel has been sold in litres for many years, making price comparisons very easy over time

10 EVERYDAY METRICS 2
•In the home entertainment world, CDs and DVDs have always been 120 mm in diameter, and the old-fashioned vinyl records have always been 175 mm
•The second is the metric unit of time. All other units, like minutes and hours, are derived units and are found in metric measurements such as kilometres per hour and kilowatt hours
•You also use metric in cooking when measuring
•multiples of 10 (like cm and mm) are used in dollars and cents. 1 dime = 10 pennies. 1 dollar = 10 dimes.

WHY SHOULD USA USE THE METEIC SYSTEM?
•The metric system is the language of science and medicine.
•US already uses it for those things yet we cling onto the use of our customary system. If you aspire to become any kind of scientist you must know how to use metric
•Also if the we want to export any products that have measurement we have to make it into metric since it is is the official measurement system for almost all countries in the world
