Well a simile is a word that compares other words in a sentence. Words often used in conjunction with; like and as.

What is a metaphor?

Well a metaphor is like a simile. However instead of saying that one thing is like something else, it makes else into something different and renames it. Words often used with metaphors are; was, is, are.

Simile:
His legs were like jelly!

Metaphor:
My heart was beating faster than a humming birds wings!
